About Philip Louey

Born and bred in Melbourne, Philip Louey is a Melbourne sports photographer who has been behind the camera for over four decades. My passion for photography has been fuelled by two key motivations. First, the power to capture and immortalise moments, memories, and events for future generations. Second, the art of crafting an image that resonates—deciding what makes a photo compelling and which emotions to evoke. I’ve come to realize that art isn't about perfection; it's about the journey and the lessons learned along the way.

I began with a basic point-and-shoot, but soon advanced to a 35mm SLR with a kit lens, reflecting my deepening commitment to the craft. My education in photography was further enhanced by a black-and-white photography course at RMIT, which widened my understanding of the developmental possibilities. Witnessing the magical emergence of an image on photographic paper during the chemical process was profoundly inspiring.

Currently, I work with top-tier equipment such as the Canon R3 and RF-L series lenses, a significant step up from my previous Canon 1DX-MKii and EF L-series lenses. The Canon R3, a mirrorless body, excels in capturing fast-moving sports action and is equally adept at shooting detailed portraits and team photos,

Game On Sports Images work with many clubs and have found that there is a need for a reliable, organised and results driven photographer who will work as a partner – rather than just another supplier – which results in the club and its members having a great experience with us.
